Hello everyone, I am Japan Culinary Institute (JCI) !

I hope you are having healthy lifestyle and healthy diet.

Onigiri is the soul food of the Japanese people, made of rice in a triangular or round shape. It is made by adding a slightly strong seasoning inside the ball-shaped rice.

Onigiri has long been popular as a casual lunch because it is easy to carry around.

In Japan, convenience stores and supermarkets sell dozens or even hundreds of different types of Onigiri using variety of seasoning. It is also common to bring home-style Onigiri for picnics and other occasions. One of the characteristics of Onigiri is that it is delicious even when it is cold.

When rice cools down, a substance called "resistant starch" is produced, which has a structure that is difficult to decompose like dietary fiber. It reaches the large intestine without being digested and has the function of cleaning the inside of the intestine. Japanese food is often said to be effective in longevity and prevention of obesity.

Would you like to learn how to make Onigiri @ JCI`s Japanese home cooking course and challenge your healthy diet?
